We can’t Wait to See You!

We are so excited to see your dancer in classes soon! Below is some helpful information for you to look over before your first class.

Where to find us.   Watch this quick video for directions and parking!

We are located in the lower level of Memorial Hall on the Bethel College Campus. Our address is 300 E 27th St. North Newton, 67117 and Mem Hall is on the North side of the main cul de sac of the college entrance (opposite of the 1887 Cafe, formerly Mojos Coffee Shop). You can enter from either set of double doors to the right and left of the tall staircase. Follow the signs posted down to our lobby! There is also an elevator entrance to the west of the left entrance.

Parking.  There is open parking in the main cul de sac entrance of the college, in the fine arts parking lot to the south of The 1887 Cafe, and across Main street in the Kauffman Museum parking lot.

How to prepare for your first class. Dancers taking a trial class can wear any clothing that is easy to move in! Many times this will look like leggings or athletic shorts with a t shirt or tank. Socks can be worn in place of dance shoes if needed, and we also have a “wear and share” by the dressing room that has donated shoes and dance clothing that can be borrowed as long as we have the appropriate size. Once dancers are enrolled they will need to wear the dress code items for their class.  You can find our full dress code here! Dancers may also want to arrive 5-10 minutes early on their first day to meet the teacher and ask any questions you may have about our programs. We also recommend that dancers bring a water bottle to class!

Tips for adjusting.  Trying something new can be a little scary and intimidating, but one of the greatest benefits of dance is an increase in self-confidence and independence! If a child is having a particularly difficult time separating from their grown up then adults are allowed to sit in for the first class, but we typically encourage little ones to participate without their adult in the studio right from the start to develop good habits. You are always welcome to watch from the viewing windows of each studio! With young dancers some hesitation and even a few tears are very normal in the first weeks, but we have found that most children pass through this phase after a few classes. Be sure to prepare them for what to expect before class each week and before you know it they will jump right into class with enthusiasm!

Tuition and Fees.  Dance classes start at $50/month for one weekly class and are slightly discounted the more classes you add. You can view all of our current pricing here! There is a $30 annual family registration fee due in August. Dance students also pay an annual performance fee based on the number of classes taken per week and this is due with October tuition.  These fees go towards our administrative costs (registration fee) and the spring dance recital in May (performance fee) which covers the cost of all costumes that your child will wear for recital.
