BCAPA Rewind- Spring Dance Concert 2025

Welcome to the Spring Concert Parent Portal! Below you will find all of the information you need to know about our Spring Dance Concert this year including general concert info, important dates, picture day details, ticket prices, and more!

General Concert Information and Important Dates

Our 2025 Recital Theme is “BCAPA Rewind”, and we’ll be using songs and themes from our first 20 recitals to put on an awesome show that honors BCAPA’s history!

Performances Dates are Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th on the Krehbiel Auditorium Stage in Bethel’s Fine Arts Center. This year, we will have a “Mini” recital on May 24th at 2 pm for our preschool and lower level classes, and the “MainStage” recital will be May 24th at 6:30 pm and May 25th at 2:00 pm for the rest of our classes. Click here to see which show(s) your child’s class will perform in!

Technical Rehearsals- Each class will have one 15-20 minute “tech” rehearsal on Monday May 19, Tuesday, May 20 OR Wednesday, May 21 where dancers get to practice entering and exiting, get a feel for spacing, and do their dance with music 1-2 times. Tech rehearsals are done in regular dance clothes and do not require performance hair and make up to be done. Mini dancers will be finished no later than 7:30 pm on the night that they have tech rehearsal. The detailed schedule for these days will be available in April.

Dress Rehearsal for the MainStage recital is Thursday, May 22nd from 5:00-8:30 pm and dress rehearsal for the Mini Recital is Friday, May 23rd from 5:00-7:300 pm. Dress rehearsals will be done in full hair and make up, and dancers should arrive with hair and make up already done and their first costume base on under comfortable clothes they can wait and warm up in. Dress Rehearsals are mandatory for all dancers unless another arrangement has been made with Miss Haylie.

Show Week Schedule- Check the show week schedule for your dancer’s arrival times for dress rehearsals and shows and for more information about what to expect during show week!

Class Attendance- During the spring semester our instructors will be using a part of each class time to teach recital classes. Attendance during the next few months is important for learning and memorizing choreography. We use a method that is designed to give dancers the right amount of time to flex their mental muscles for choreography retention, but in order for it to work, dancers need to be consistently in class! Please understand that if your child misses a class between now and the concert they may not be included in choreography learned or rehearsed during that class. We know that family schedules can be busy, so if your child is going to be absent then just please remember to let us know in advance so we can plan ahead.

Costumes- BCAPA provides the majority of costumes for concerts. Students may be asked to bring in something from home on occasion, however, most costumes will be borrowed from BCAPA’s collection. Students are expected to treat borrowed costumes with care, and will not be permitted to take home the provided costumes leading up to recital. For more information, please take a look at the Spring Concert Performance Fee and Costume Information document.

Performer Information Form

All dance students are asked to complete a Performer Information Form, which helps us to gather information about your child’s schedule, and serves as a formal commitment from your dancer to perform in the Spring Concert.  If your dancer is not able to participate in the Spring Concert for any reason then you can let us know on the form. If you realize you have missed the form due date then please complete it as soon as possible (your dancer is still eligible to perform if it is completed after March 9).

Band App

Be sure to join the BCAPA “Band App” group HERE in order to receive spring concert reminders and to view videos of your child’s dance! This is a private group that only BCAPA members, their parents, and teachers can join and view.  The teachers will be posting recital videos for the dancers to review as classes learn their dances.

Recital Pictures, Hair, and Make up

Recital Pictures will be Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th in Krehbiel Auditorium. If your child is performing in recital then we ask that they please be present for recital pictures. The group photograph is a wonderful way for us to capture the growth of each class from year to year and we want all students to be included in that! Each class will have a 15-20 minute block of time for their pictures, and we will do our best to group dances by level so that students in multiple classes don’t have long breaks between their pictures. A detailed picture day schedule will be available in April.

Hair and Make up- Parents can use their discretion on the amount of make up that dancers wear for picture day and performances, but at the very least we recommend blush and lip color for all dancers. You can find all of our hair and makeup guidelines for picture day and recital here. You can also view a video that demonstrates how to do a low ballet bun by following this link- Ballet Bun Video. Dancers with very short hair can wear it in a slicked back low pony tail or “half up half down”.

Volunteer Needs

It takes a village to produce a dance show! We ask parents to help by being involved in this exciting time of their child's dance season.  If you’re interested in helping behind the scenes or in the lobby before/during performances then check out our volunteer form here! Select volunteers will receive 1 free ticket to the show of their choice.

Show Sponsors and Silent Auction

As a non-profit, this time of year is BCAPA's largest and most active time for raising funds.  The following fundraisers will take place in order to ensure that our school will continue to thrive:

Show Sponsors- BCAPA’s Spring Concert requires a lot of behind the scenes preparations and resources before BCAPA's stars can take the stage. Program printing, tech crew salaries, dance floor tape, and our faculty's many hours assisting and performing with students, are just a few examples of event expenses not covered by tuition. We are currently looking for businesses, organizations, or individuals who would like to be a show sponsor. If you know of or work for a business that might be interested in sponsoring this year’s Spring Dance Concert then please present them with the 2025 Sponsorship Form This tax-deductible donation has many benefits such as being a prominent guest at the show and receiving Ad space in our program. Sponsorships are an excellent way to advertise a business, at least 500 people will see program ads.

Silent Auction- We will be having a silent auction with a variety of baskets at each performance. If you are interested in donating a basket to the silent auction then please contact Haylie at hberning@bethelks.edu.
